Day 1: Arrival in Algiers

After you arrive at the airport in Algiers, you will find your private guide waiting for you at the exit holding a welcome board with your name. After a warm greeting, you will be taken to the hotel we carefully selected for you.

Day 2: Explore Djemila, Transfer to Constantine

Today, a comfortable ride will take you to explore Djemila, which was the largest and best preserved ancient Rome ruins in Algeria. It was excavated between 1909 and 1957 and became a UNESCO World Heritage in 1982. Upon arrival, you will first visit an ordinary small museum, which displays the items from over 2,000 years ago. After stepping out of the museum, you will walk into the site, which is also a park with green trees, stone tablets and statues, to admire the ruins. The stone pillars, triumphal arch, big baths and temples will bring your thoughts back to the ancient Roman times.

Later, we will proceed to the city of bridge, Constantine and we will stay overnight there.

Day 3: Constantine sightseeing, Fly back to Algiers

Constantine is surrounded by deep picturesque canyons and is connected to other areas by two Bridges over the Rhumel Lake. After breakfast, you will first be led to Cirta Museum, which mainly displays the Roman mosaics. Then you will be guided to visit the fascinating Palace of Ahmed Bey and mosques. After that, you will enjoy some leisure time to walk around the city and you will have a chance to see the traditional castle, local market and the art achievements of city bridges.

After finishing the visit, you will be transferred to the airport to take a flight back to Algiers. After arrival, you will be escorted to the hotel.

Day 4: Fly to Timimoun

After an early breakfast, you will be taken to the airport to catch a morning flight to Timimoun, which is the gate to enter the Sahara Desert. After arrival, your professional local guide will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. Later, you will have today’s lunch at a local popular restaurant. Then, stroll around the ancient town to admire the local Sudanese style architecture and visit the souvenir shops and local market.

After an early breakfast, you will be taken to the airport to catch a morning flight to Timimoun, which is the gate to enter the Sahara Desert. After arrival, your professional local guide will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. Later, you will have today’s lunch at a local popular restaurant. After lunch, stroll around the ancient town to admire the local Sudanese style architecture and visit the souvenir shops and local market.

Day 5: Timimoun

After one night rest, you will be accompanied to walk around Timimoun to visit the carmine caves and deserted villages and admire the local features. Your guide will introduce you to the knowledge of local history, customs, weather, environment during the sightseeing. At around noon time, we will return to Timimoun to escape from the hot and have today’s lunch. After lunch, you may have a short rest at the hotel. The afternoon time will be left free for you to explore the town by yourself.

Day 6: Visit Beni Abbes, Drive to Taghit

The journey today includes a long driving, which is about 500 kilometers (311 miles). First, we will head to white oasis – Beni Abbes town, which looks pretty beautiful with graceful environment. At the end of the oasis, many sand dunes stand there, which makes the Beni Abbes look like a pearl mounted on the desert. After that, we will move forward to the Ksar and the Sahara Museum, which displays many interesting exhibits. Then we will continue to drive to Taghit and stay overnight there.

Day 7: Explore Taghit, Transfer to Bachar, Fly to Oran

Taghit is another oasis town in vast Sahara. Along the way, you will also see the sand dunes, the palm trees and the ancient Ksar. The sand dunes are standing at the edge of the town. When you cross the sand dunes, a splendid scenery will jump into your eyes.

You can take plenty of artistic photos when walking along the narrow wind street and the red mud buildings. You will spend the whole morning here. After lunch, we will head to Bechar and catch an afternoon flight to the second largest city of Algeria – Oran, where you will stay in tonight.

Day 8: Oran sightseeing

This morning, you will be escorted to visit Oran, which is a coastal city in the northwest part of Algeria. It was said to be discovered by two Arabic voyagers. The main highlights of Oran is the Fort and Chapelle de Santa Cruz, Place du ler Novembre, La Cathedrale du Sacre Coeur and Bey’s Palace. You will have one full day to explore this fancy city.

Day 9: Transfer to Tipaza, Sightsee in Tipaza, Transfer to Algiers

After breakfast, we will take a car for around 4 hours to the UNESCO World Heritage, Tipaza, which is 370 kilometers (230 miles) from Oran. This ancient city was first constructed in the 7th century BC and now is one of the most popular tourist sites in Algeria. Besides, it is also one of the best-preserved Roman ruins along the Mediterranean coast. Then we will continue to drive to Algiers. On the way, have a layover at the Royal Mausoleum of Mauritanian, which was a construction from the Numibian period with a history of over 2,000 years. Cleopatra’s daughter was buried there. This evening we will stay in Algiers.

Day 10: Algiers highlights

The whole day today will be devoted to Algiers. We will visit the historial Kashbah, which is a fortress built in the 2rd century BC, the Maqam Echahid, which is seen as a symbol of the independence struggle, and the Musée national des moudjahid to know about the history of Algeria war. Walking along the city streets, you will also know about the history and architecture of this city.

Day 11: Departure from Algiers

Our currrent deposit is set at 30% and final payment date for private tours is at 60 days

Cancellation and Refund:

The reservation deposit is non-refundable and the following cancellation rate will be applied to the remaining tour cost:

a. More than 60 days prior to departure:  deposit

b. 59 – 45 days prior to departure:  deposit + 15% of the remaning cost

b. 44 – 30 days prior to departure:  deposit + 30% of the remaning cost

c. 29 – 15 days prior to departure:  deposit + 70% of the remaning cost

d. Within 14 days or no show: 100% of the tour cost

Payment: Our standard deposit to secure your booking is 30%. Final payment is required 70 days prior to tour commencement. If we have not received the balance payment by this date, we may be obliged to cancel itinerary components and will not be able to guarantee your tour. Cancellation and amendment policy:

You may cancel or amend the tour for any reason at any time, however please bear in mind our cancellation and amendment costs. Additional cancellation fees may be incurred for, but not necessarily limited to, reservations for other activities and accommodation. AgateTravel reserves the right to reclaim these costs from you.

Cancellation 61 days + prior to the tour arrangements commencing: Loss of deposit amount. This is the equivalent of 30% of the total tour cost.

Cancellation 60 – 21 days prior your tour commencement date: If the tour is cancelled 60-21 days prior to the tour commencement date, a cancellation fee of 55% of the total tour reservation net value plus any other prepaid or advance payment items.

Cancellation 20-14 days prior your tour commencement date: If the tour is cancelled 20-14 days prior to the tour commencement date, a cancellation fee of 80% of the total tour reservation net value plus any other prepaid or advance payment items.

Cancellation 14 days or less prior your tour commencement date:

If the tour is cancelled within 14 days of the tour commencement date, a cancellation fee of 100% of the total tour reservation nett value.

While we understand that cancellations may at times be unavoidable we highly recommend you purchase adequate travel insurance to cover this.

Amending or changing your tour:

You may change the dates of your tour at any time (subject to availability of the specific components), however any third party costs, such as hotel amendment fees or cancellation costs will be passed to you.

A tour reservation will be confirmed after receiving a thirty percent (30%) of the total payment amount as a deposit. By paying for the deposit, you agree to be bound by our Terms and Conditions. If necessary, we reserve the right to require for a higher amount of down payment to ensure your reservation during the tourist peak season. The remaining balance of the tour price is required at least 60 days ahead of tour departure date.

Methods of payments: Wire/Bank Transfer, PayPal and Western Union are acceptable payment ways. Any handling charge associated with the payment process is your responsibility.

a. Wire/Bank Transfer: It is advisable to pay this way to save the bank transaction fee.

b. PayPal: It is fast and convenient way, and you can use your credit card to pay through PayPal. It is highly recommended for smaller amount payment. The transfer fee is 4% of total payment.

c. Western Union: It is instant and efficient payment way. The handling fee is around USD40 per time.

d. Others: If you are in China, WeChat and AliPay are also acceptable without handling fee.

Thirty percent (30%) of the tour total price is required as a deposit to confirm your tour. A reservation for your tour will not be considered firm until the deposit is received. By sending the deposit, you agree to our Terms and Conditions. During the peak tourist season, we reserve the right to require a higher amount of advance payment to assure your booking if required. The final or full payment is required 30 days prior to the start of the tour.

Cancellation & Refund

For any changes made prior to the beginning of the tour, there will be no charge for our services. However, if in case there are any costs due to the reservation changes, you will be responsible to pay for this part.

The reservation deposit is non-refundable if you cancel the tour and it will not be calculated into the charge of the cancellation percentage.

The cancellation fee will be a certain percentage of the tour price.

a. More than 30 days before the arrival day: we will refund the full cost to you except for the tour deposit, and the actual air or hotel cancellation fee if there is.

b. 30 days to 22 days before: 10% of the tour price.

c. 21 days to 7 days before: 50% of the tour price.

d. Cancellation within 6 days: 100% of the tour price.

After the tour begins, any extra charges caused by clients’ changes will be added to the total. Any unused portion is neither refundable nor exchangeable.

If you cancel the trip, you should inform us by email. We will calculate your refund based on the day (by Beijing time) when we receive the written cancellation. All refunds will be processed within 20 days of receipt of your cancellation.

Minimum Group Size

Small Group Tours: A small group tour is a way for people to travel inexpensively and hassle-free while having a fantastic experience. Our groups provide travelers a perfect combination of intimacy, flexibility and low prices. We guarantee departures on most tours with 1 passenger, and select tours with a minimum of 2 passengers – please see individual tour pages for details.

We reserve the right to decline to accept or retain any person as a passenger should such person’s health or mental condition or physical infirmity or general deportment impede the operation of the trip or the rights, welfare or enjoyment of other passengers.

Private Tours: The private guided tour is tailored for you, your family or your friends exclusively. No other participants will be in your group and you will not take part into any tours with others during our land services except for the excursion parts of the Yangtze River Cruise or any other cruises. For the whole of your tour, we will provide you with a private guide and driver. You will have flexibility within reason to agree with your guide on your daily departure time, sightseeing time and even mealtimes.

Passports and Visas

Please make sure you have a valid passport and visa before leaving.

You are requested to check and follow the visa policy of the country you are going to visit at the nearest embassy or consulate.

Additional Information

We suggest that you purchase travel insurance that covers a wide range of unforeseen losses and damages, including baggage damage, flight delays and cancellations.

Please be sure to check carefully your international and domestic air tickets you purchased so that you are fully aware of the policies of the airline companies.

Upon checking in at hotels, guests are expected to offer a valid credit card authorization to guarantee payment of any possible personal expense (e.g. laundry) during your stay.

Responsibility

The responsibility of our agent, parent company and affiliated companies is strictly limited. As a tour operator, we organize, promote, and sell tour programs consisting of certain travel services, including guide service, surface transportation, air transportation, water transportation, excursions and accommodations that we purchase or reserve from various suppliers. The suppliers providing services for our tour programs are independent contractors and they are not agents or employees of ours.

To the extent that we are involved in booking air and/or cruise transportation for you, we act as your agent and not as an agent for the airline and/or cruise companies. However, we promise that we are responsible for the willful or negligent acts of our partner travel agents for the land services.

We reserve the right to change the trains and flights we have arranged for you in the itinerary, and we make sure to guarantee your tour going smoothly unless the trains or flights are being cancelled or chartered.

We will take all benefits and all losses of any fluctuations, lower or higher in airfares, cruise fares, currency devaluation, park fee increases, taxes, or fuel surcharges after we have received the full payment. And we reserve the right to correct promotional or pricing errors or to increase the tour price in the event of cost increases due to changes in airfares, cruise fares, currency devaluation, park fee increases, taxes, or fuel surcharges before we receive your reservation deposit.

We are not responsible for acts of terrorism, political unrest, war, earthquake, landslide, delay or cancellation of the flights or cruises.

We are not responsible for any unauthorized extra services that the client requires with the local agent, local guide or the driver temporarily in different cities beyond our confirmed itinerary. In this case, we will not take any responsibility for losses on shopping, extra attractions, destinations etc, but we will try our best to help our clients get out of the difficulties including chasing compensation if any damages or losses occur.
